The Bavarian section of the IG-Metall announced on April 21, 2008 that it signed with 16 temp agencies wage agreements granting temporary workers employed by BMW the wage levels negotiated in the branch. According to the IG-Metall, these agreements should lead to wage increases of up to 56% for the 3.000-4.000 temp workers at BMW. (Ref. 080340)
These agreements follow a previous convention signed in December 2007 between the car manufacturer and the IG-Metall (see our dispatch No. 71005). In this convention, implemented on April 1, 2008, BMW undertakes to work only with firms proposing to agency workers (in Germany, these workers are hired only by temp agency) wages corresponding to those negotiated in the branch or local agreements, in average between €11.61and €, 28.17 an hour, whereas minimum wage for an agency worker at BMW is cur
