After a marathon 22-hour negotiation, the IG Metall union and the Sudwestmetall employers' organization agreed, on November 12, 2008, in Sindelfingen - in the Bade-Wurttemberg pilot region -on a two-step wage increase: 2.1% on February 1, 2009 and again 2.1% on May 1, 2009. The approximately 800.000 metalworkers of the Bade-Wurttemberg region will also get a single 510 euros bonus for November and December 2008 and for January 2009.
