ittee (Tarifauschuss), equally composed of employers’ and union representatives agreed, on August 31, to the introduction of minimum wages in three new sectors: industrial laundry, specialized mining services and waste management. However, it failed to find a solution for continuous training and security and surveillance services. Olaf Scholz, Labor Minister (SPD), could choose to make minimum wage mandatory before the elections on September 27. But time is running out. (Ref. 090798)
