The Der Spiegel Magazine proves that the GNBZ - the trade union for the new companies of the postal sector - was paid for by private competitors of the Deutsche Post. While the Ver.di union lodged a complaint against the GNBZ union, the legal imbroglio around the minimum wage in the postal sector keeps increasing. (Ref. 080230)
Courts have a lot to do with the German postal sector. Recently, Berlin’s Administrative Court gave satisfaction to the Deutsche Post’s private competitors when it acknowledged that the industry-wide minimum wage negotiated by the services’ union Ver.di and the AGV – the employers’ federation controlled by the Deutsche Post, couldn’t apply to companies which negotiated a competitive and lower minimum wage with the GNBZ, a competitor union (see our article No. 080205).
