The management of the Lufthansa airline and the Ver.di union reached a wage agreement on August 1, 2008. The text, which concerns the 34.000 ground staff, was validated by Verdi's employed members on August 13 by a short majority (51%). The wage increase will be divided in two, and the employees will receive a performance-related one-off payment. (Ref. 080639)
The 34.000 ground staff are to receive a 5.1% increase on July 1, 2008 and then a second on July 1, 2009. Besides, they will receive a one-off payment, including a performance-related component depending on their business segment, of up to 2.4% of their annual remuneration (for technical employees for instance). The minimum payment is set to 1.5% of their annual income.
