On the eve of new wage negotiations qualified of "decisive" by the Bade-Wurtemberg, the German union IG-Metall extended, on May 2, its warning strikes to the entire country. 61,000 metalworkers took part in these strikes and stoppages are planned until the end of the week. (Ref. 070388)
According to the IG-Metall union, asking for a 6.5% wage increase for the 3.4 million employees from the metallurgy and electronics sectors, approximately 61,000 metalworkers took part in stoppages on May 2; they will continue until the end of the week. If no agreement is reached by May 3 in the Bade-Wurtemberg, IG-Metall could launch an unlimited strike as soon as mid-May.
