The International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Sécurité Sociale, a French higher education institution specialising in social security, teamed up in 2016 to create an exchange platform for French multinational firms. The aim was to bring together companies that have committed to developing an active strategy to implement a minimum level of social protection for all their employees across the globe. Those companies that are members of the platform have developed a first ‘good practice’ guide, using their own experience. The guide retraces the different steps in building and implementing a social protection programme for their branches at home and abroad. Companies provide details of their own experiences in the guide, which identifies specific practices that could be applied by other firms that want to develop and implement a social protection plan for all their staff around the world.
Among the multinational firms that are members of the platform, and which participated in the creation of the guide, are Kering, Legrand L’Oréal and LVMH.
