The UK government’s Fit for Work program aims to sharply reduce absenteeism levels. The program due to roll out in early 2015 will assist employees on long-term sick leave return to work quicker.
The Fit for Work program (originally the Health and Work Service, c.f. article No. 8165) guarantees to help employers “help reduce your sick pay costs, by enabling employees to return to work earlier”. Going forward employers with the employee’s consent can refer an employee for a Fit for Work assessment when s/he is out sick for more than four weeks.
