On 24 March, the British Parliament gave the green light to the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill; it contains a long awaited amendment to the exclusivity clauses of the much criticised zero-hour contracts. All that remains, before the law can come into force, is the granting of royal consent, which is merely a formality.
Led by Business Secretary, Vince Cable, the government has announced its measures banning exclusivity clauses in the use of zero hours contracts. After a public consultation, the government has published its Zero Hours Workers (Exclusivity Terms) Regulations 2015. These regulations are part of the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill, which has been passed.
