For the first time the UK had to close its doors to non-European skilled workers earning under 155,000 GBP a year (214,000 €) because the maximum allowed number of working permits per month was reached. Businesses looking to confirm the country’s economic recovery assert their desperate need for skilled work and are worried that David Cameron recently made it known that he was looking to restrict the number of non-European workers entering the country.
21,700 “Tier 2” working permits (1) are awarded on an annual basis according to a threshold that the Government set in 2011 when the country was in the throes of economic crisis.
