Peter Lewis, 47, former director of the stock broking department at the HSBC investment bank, filed a complaint against his former employer, saying he was laid off because of his homosexuality. This case will be examined by referring to the recent British legislation on discriminations against homosexual people. (Réf. 06212)
Mr. Lewis was laid off following a disciplinary hearing due to a colleague’s complaint for “sexual harassment”. He will tell the industrial tribunal that he would not have been fired if he had not been homosexual, which was known of his colleagues, and will support his argumentation by 16 cases of discriminations for which he says to have been the victim at HSBC. Mr. Lewis is asking for 5 million Pounds (7.35 million Euros) in compensation.
