In the annual report of the Central Arbitration Committee (CAC), the body which administers the statutory union recognition procedure, applications for union recognition increased to 54 in 2012-2013 from 43 in 2011-2012 (and 28 in 2010-2011). This brings the total number of applications for union recognition to 839 since June 2000 (although it should be noted that 27% were withdrawn and of these 42% resubmitted so the total number of applications does not represent all cases being complete new applications).
