Since 10 November, the UK online bank Atom Bank has been offering its 430 employees the opportunity to work 34 hours a week, over four days, while keeping the same salary. The group's aim is to improve work-life balance, nurture employee mental health, and reduce its environmental impact.
Until now, Atom Bank employees were working a 37.5- hour week spread over five days. With the new arrangement, they can choose to work a 34-hour week spread over four days. While this shorter week is optional the group has already found that a large majority of staff have chosen to adopt it.
