Wildcat strikes throughout the country. Since June 19, 2009, there have been 34 days of strike, from southern England to northern Scotland, in over 235 Royal Mail establishments. The last spontaneous strikes took place in London, Leeds and Birmingham, from 4 to 24 hours. The CWU decided to organize a vote among 121,000 workers employed by Royal Mail – almost two thirds of the workforce – to see if it would receive support for an official national strike. The results should be revealed on October 8. The company recently admitted that, currently, one in eight letters is delayed.
