At a time when the pandemic has raised questions over how the usefulness of office space, US tech giant Google has surprised many with its recent purchase of the renowned Central Saint Giles complex for £730 million (€873 million). Designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano and located in the centre of London, the site, in which Google was already renting office space, should enable the group to continue its policy of increasing its UK workforce while offering its employees more spacious working areas
“Our investment in this striking Renzo Piano-designed development represents our continued confidence in the office as a place for in-person collaboration and connection. We believe that the future of work is flexibility,” explained Google’s UK boss Ronan Harris in a post on 14 January.
