The government has announced that all companies employing over 250 staff will be legally compelled to publish statistics on the pay gap in their organisation between men and women from 2016. The Conservatives had resisted this before, preferring a voluntary approach which most employers ignored. A consultation exercise will now begin on what information should be published, how often and where.
The Conservative government has announced that all companies employing over 250 staff will be legally compelled to publish statistics on the pay gap in their organisation between men and women from the first half of 2016, some six months earlier than hitherto announced. The Conservatives had previously resisted this before, preferring a voluntary approach but have now accepted that most employers simply ignored the imploration to do so.
