After the threatened closure of the petro-chemical plant at Grangemouth by owner, Ineos, the Unite union has now agreed not only to all the concessions the company was initially looking for but also signed a three year no-strike deal. (Ref. 130658)
Earlier, the union had instructed it members to reject the deal. A majority of its members equating to a majority of the workforce did so. The company then called the union’s bluff by saying it would no restart production at the plant, thus making 800 workers redundant.
