In order to stamp out the rot of slavery, which is prevalent in supply chains, the UK government will require larger companies to play the transparency card and disclose on an annual basis the measures they have implemented to eradicate this evil that has become endemic in certain sectors and countries.
On October 13, the Home Secretary announced that larger companies will have make annual disclosures about the steps they have taken to tackle slavery in their supply chains. This measure, which forms part of the Modern Slavery Bill currently being examined by Parliament, could well be “the most advanced anti-slavery legislation in the world”,” according to a government source cited by the Sunday Times newspaper.
