Leading anti-blacklisting campaigners have expressed dismay at the response of Business Secretary, Vince Cable, to the call from the Scottish Affairs Select Committee in Parliament to investigate evidence of current blacklisting in the £16bn (€18.5bn) London Crossrail project. The 72-mile infrastructure scheme is the largest project of its kind in Europe. (Ref. 130506)
The project is being run by a consortium called BFK, comprising three major companies, namely, BAM, Ferrovial and Kier.
Campaigners had hoped that after the parliamentary committee had found clear evidence of blacklisting used by subcontractors on the construction project after taking evidence from various parties that Cable would instruct his Department for Business, Innovation and Skills [BIS] to investigate blacklisting on the Crossrail project.
