Great Britain: skills councils for manufacturing employees extends

£600 per employee.  Last year, the “Women and Work” program developed by Cogent, still in its trial phase, aimed to help 100 women with their training of career development within an industrial sector (chemistry, nuclear, pharmaceutical…).  To create this fund, Cogent made successful bid into the Employer Investment Fund (EIF) which is managed by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES).  Because of high demand from employers, the number of people who received support was brought up to 119, which drove Cogent to increase the budget this year.  Now endowed with £213,000 (€239,000), this fund is going to help develop the skills of 355 women in science sectors, particularly those who perform technical jobs that aren’t traditional.  When employers identify female employees with skills to improve or possibilities for career advancement, they can get a grant up to £600 per employee.
