Tens of thousands of British marchers hit the streets of London on Saturday October 18, answering a call to march by the TUC in a demand for higher wages. This unprecedented workers pressure, following a series of strikes last week, did nothing to alter the Cameron government position, at a time when the question of wages is fast becoming an irrefutable 2015 election issue.
On Monday morning the British government was holding firm to its position having gone through one of the most socially eventful weeks in the history of the United Kingdom (c.f. article No. 8646) that culminated in a general march under the slogan ‘Britain Needs a Pay Rise’. The mass march was organized by the TUC union confederation and symbolizes widespread British unrest over the issue of salaries.
