According to a survey of Ernst and Young Item Club, published this weekend in the press, the flow or workers from new EU Member States has contribute to reduce inflation, to improve productivity, made labour force younger and much mobile and increased tax revenues. Considering this positive effects, the immigration from eastern countries is, according to the Ernst and Young’s Item Club survey, “an elixir” for British economy.
According to this survey, their contribution to the GDP was 2 billion pounds (2.9 billion euros) and will problably reach 4 billion next year ant 6 in 2008-2009. These immigrants have also brought 300 million pounds to the tax administration (about 43 million euros).
