On 04 September, the UK’s Trades Union Congress launched a landmark AI taskforce the purpose of which is to secure a new legislative framework for the fair use of AI in the workplace.
Comprising trade unionists as well as HR experts, elected representatives and academics, this taskforce’s mission is to draft legal protections that ensure AI is used fairly in the workplace. The aim is to produce a document by early 2024, in the hope that it can be examined by Parliament. This text should notably require that any decision taken by artificial intelligence be ultimately ‘verifiable’ by a human being.
