Whereas the campaing launched several months ago in favor of the improvement of agency workers' rights is intensifying, the Trade Union Confederation just published a list of preconceived ideas on their working conditions. British employers, CBI, are pressuring the government to refuse the bill presented by a Labor MP. The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, created a Commission to study the possibility to align agency workers' rights on those permanent workers enjoy. (Ref. 080133)
The TUC started up again a vigorous campaign to support the bill presented by Andrew Miller, Labor MP, to give agency workers equal treatment with permanent workers. To ensure the bill’s second passage through Parliament on February 22, at least 100 MPs must support it. Thus, TUC asked all citizens to pressure elected officials and, to that end, dismantles preconceived ideas on agency workers’ working conditions one by one :
- “Agency workers aren’t any worse off than permanent staff.” Part-time
