Two of the largest British unions, Amicus and the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU) signed an agreement on Wednesday April 18 with their American counterpart - United Steel Workers (USW) with a view to create the first transatlantic organization of this kind, boosted with 3.4 million members in the united kingdom, in Ireland, in the united states and in Canada. In practical terms, a committee was created to establish the bases of their union at a legal level. The agreement was signed during a ceremony in Ottawa. This transatlantic union – which would be the most important in the world – will aim at negotiating joint collective agreement with multinational companies.
