For the fourth consecutive year, British trade unions saw their private sector membership grow in 2014. All sectors considered, 6.4 million British employees were linked to a trade union last year. The Trades Union Congress (TUC) is delighted, even if the record high of 13 million members in 1979 still seems far away.
“It’s good to see that trade union membership is as valued as ever, with the number of new members increasing in some sectors”.
