On 06 October, the UK telecommunications giant unveiled a series of measures to support employees. Among them is a financial boost to cope with inflation, leave time for neonatal birth, and also a new paid leave allowing employees to take care of their sick loved ones.
With one in ten Virgin Media O2 employees claiming to be carers, the group has decided to introduce a specific paid leave period of 5 days per year for employees who are caring for a sick relative. The level of familial proximity to the person in need is free, so it can be a family member or a friend, the company told Planet Labor.
