Greece: adoption of the pension act and general strike

Big mobilization. This 24-hour strike paralyzed maritime, rail and air transport throughout the country. Over 80 domestic and international flights were cancelled and 110 were delayed because air controllers stopped working and civil aviation officers observed the 24-hour strike. All ships stayed on dock and tourists who were supposed to go to islands were told by maritime companies that the routes of the day of strike were postponed to the next day. The strike affected national and local governments, hospitals and public businesses. Customs officers, banking and insurance employees, lawyers or even teachers also participated. The journalists’ union rallied to the movement, depriving the country of information for 24 hours.
