On 29 March, the Council of Ministers approved a 6.4% increase in the minimum wage with effect from 1 April. The pay level will rise from €780 to €830 gross per month over 14 months, equivalent to €968 over 12 months. The government relied both on social dialogue, with negotiations between employers’ and employees’ representatives, and on recommendations from the Bank of Greece to decide on the latest hike, which should benefit around 600,000 workers in the private sector.
