The Greek Parliament adopted, on March 20, with a short majority (151 votes for for 300 MPs) the bill on the pension reform. The conservative government, reelected in September, put the reform of the highly unprofitable pension system at the heart of its program. The bill mostly aims at uniting several pension funds (from 133 down to 13), to incite people to work beyond legal retirement age (65 for men and 60 for women) and to put a stop to early retirement. In addition, the text plans to increase retirement age in some sectors with special systems.
