On 28 November the largest trade union in the private sector, the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE), called for a 24-hour general strike under the banner ‘get back to the €751 minimum wage; re-establish collective conventions; secure the right to a universal social security system’. Although the Alex Tsipras government has made labor reform one of its priorities for the post-bailout period, measures have been slow in being implemented and not satisfactory for the GSEE.
The Greek Labor Minister Efi Achtsioglou recently stated, “Our post-bailout plan focuses on jobs, opportunities for collective bargaining, and increasing pay. These are key for returning to growth.
