Hungary : government adopted programmes to boost employment

Government approved Start Plus and Start Extra, two programmes to offer preferential terms for employing parents returning to work from maternity or childcare leave, and to unemployed or long-term unemployed people living in disadvantaged areas. (Ref. 06141)

  • Under Start Plus, employers hiring a long-term unemployed person would be eligible for an 18.5 per cent tax discount in the first and 8.5 per cent in the second year,
    whereas employers of parents returning to work from maternity leave, childcare leave or home care leave would be able to limit their spending on contributions to 15 % in the first and 25 % in the second year.
