On Saturday, September 27, Saint-Gobain opened the first Hungarian plasterboard production unit in Halmajugra, a town located about 100 km (about 62 miles) from Budapest. This event shows "this CPW group's trust into Hungary and the region" the managers said. (Ref. 080845)
After buying a Hungarian company which imported plasterboards – a materials used for ceilings and walls, Saint-Gobain opened a production unit in Halmajugra. Jean-Pierre Clavel, director of the gypsum activity at Saint-Gobain, said: “If Saint-Gobain invested €35 million, it is that it believes in construction’s future in Hungary and in the region.” He also said that the plant’s capacity, with a surface area of 20.000 square meters (approximately215 square feet), is in the order of 13M/m2 a year
