Representatives from the Spanish textile company which owns Zara went to Istanbul and Porto, accompanied by union and sales officers, in order to meet some local officers. They informed their interlocutors that Inditex is planning to reduce the total number of its suppliers, despite the increase in the amount produced, and that the suppliers who respect the code of conduct the best will be favoured in the arbitrations. The trip aimed at assessing the respect of the code of conduct that the company imposes on its suppliers, and also at examining the decisions taken on the continuance of trade relationships. It is the second trip of this type led by the CSR department, after Morocco and China between 2005 and 2006.
