British and Indian unions (Unites, unions of call centers workers,) met under the aegis of the international trade union federation UNI to discuss the HSBC bank's practices in India and consider a possible cooperation. (Ref. 070431)
This meeting, which took place at the end of March, gathered representatives from the Amicus and Unites unions, following several complaints members of the latter made about their bad working conditions, unfair treatment and harassment from the local management. The latter would even have created a “call center forum” with a view of thwart the influence of the Unites union, created in 2006 with the support of Uni-global union to defend the interests of employees working in an expanding activity
