During an industrial relations conference, the TD Minister for Business and Employment, Ged Nash, discussed the labour programme led by the Irish government, covering the areas of minimum wage and collective bargaining. With the country seeing strong growth (almost 5% in 2014), the secretary of state announced that 2015 will be crucial in the area of worker rights.
Low Pay Commission. A commission dealing with the issue of low wages was officially launched in February and makes annual recommendations to the government as regards setting the minimum wage, taking into account changes to productivity, competitiveness and revenues.
