On July 30, 2008, the Irish Minister of Labor Affairs, Billy Kelleher, presented the 2007 annual report of the LCR - Labour Relations Commission - which evaluates the services it provides to businesses or trade unions as well as the mediation service for individual or collective conflicts. The report also presents a summary of the new social elements which happened during the year and the new trends in terms of industrial relations. (Ref. 080629)

- Once again, 2007 was an important bargaining year concerning pensions. A gradual move away from defined benefit (DB) pension schemes to defined contribution (DC) schemes emerged as a trend. In addition, bargaining in the banking sector led to the creation of particularly groundbreaking “hybrid” schemes (which combine the two schemes) (AIB and the Irish Bank).
