On 16 February, the National Institute of Social Security, (INPS) published data on employment changes for 2015. The main new news is the 47% rise in the number of permanent employment contracts as compared to 2014. The figures received a boost from lighter social charges and more than 1.4 million hires on permanent contracts out of a total of 1.9 million were beneficiaries of the measure.
5,408,804 is the total number of hires in Italy’s private sector in 2015, marking an 11% rise over 2014 and 15% more than in 2013. The INPS reported this in its data published on 16 February 2016. New permanent hires are behind the rise and they reached 1.9 million, or 47% more than in 2014. In total, if new hires and conversions from fixed term contracts to indefinite term contracts are also included, 2.4 million permanent employment contracts were signed in 2105.
