Italy: CGIL sent to Parliament the bill on the right to permanent training which got 130,000 signatures

“A contribution so the Parliament will willingly address the issue of permanent training” is how CGIL general secretary Gugliemo Epifani defined the own-initiative bill on permanent training presented on January 18 to the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Gianfranco Fini. After a six-month campaign (see our dispatch No. 090639), the CGIL gathered over 130,000 certified signatures (almost three times the 50,000 signatures required to present an own-initiative bill). This bill aims to establish a national training system for adults and offers a national framework to coordinate existing training. This way, the CGIL wants to make up for Italy’s delay in this respect, often pointed out by the OECD.
