At the heart of the new company agreement at the Trieste-based ship-builders Fincantieri are initiatives focusing on diversity, inclusion, and work-life balance. The agreement covers more than 8,000 employees and the social partners have also agreed on an increase in the productivity bonus, linked in particular to environmental indicators, as well as setting a specific body to strengthen employee involvement and participation. The text now needs approval by the employees' assemblies.
On 27 October, representatives from Fincantieri and the FIOM-Cgil, FIM-Cisl and UILM trade unions signed the agreement, which runs from 01 January 2023 until 31 December 2026, and which may well become a milestone. Not only because it concerns one of Italy’s major industrial groups, but also “because it contains all the elements of innovation in terms of collective bargaining” in the mechanical and metal sector, noted the FIM general secretary.
