The social partners in Italy's footwear sector, which employs around 75,000 people, reached an agreement in July to renew their collective agreement. In addition to an average pay rise of €191, the new deal provides for progress in areas such as gender equality and work-life balance.
The agreement signed by the employers’ organisation Assocalzaturifici and the trade unions Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl and Uiltec will apply retroactively from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026. The previous national collective agreement (CCN) expired on 31 December 2023. The unions welcomed this “very satisfactory result” at a time when the sector, after a flourishing post-pandemic period, is experiencing “stagnation and widespread difficulties”.
