Italy: high turnout at the general strike against Indesit’s restructuring plan
A lot of workers joined the national 8-hour strike organized on July 12 in Fabriano (Marche), where Indesit Company has its headquarters, against the group’s restructuring plan, which provides for two site closures and 1,425 job cuts (4,300 employees total). This conflict is an example of the structural crisis the electrical goods industry has been going through in Italy, with more and more restructurings and relocations cutting production in half in the past decade.
