Over 80% of employees in the rail transport sector and local public transportation took part in the national 24-hour strike which paralyzed Italy on November 10, 2008. This is the third national strike to demand
the opening of negotiations to reach a single collective agreement for all
employees in the transport sector. The Filt CGIL union mentioned a participation
rate of over 84% at the national level with peaks of almost 100% in some large
