Following worker mobilization, the French tyre maker came to an agreement with the unions over reorganization in Italy’s Piedmont region where it employs some 3,700 workers. In the agreement one of its factories will close and various provisions will be implemented to avoid redundancies ranging from different internal and external solutions to encouraging voluntary departures as well as implementing separate ‘flexibility’ agreements for each unit. The agreement will now be put to a vote by workers.
On the night of 02-03 December and following intense and centralized mobilization efforts, the Filctem-CGIL, Femca-Cisl, Uiltec-Uil, UGL Chimici, Fiom-CGIL, and Fim-Cisl unions as well as the RSU bodies at the Michelin sites came to an agreement with the French tyre maker.
