The agreement signed on 25 September by Italcementi, the Italian cement manufacturer employing 1,700 people in the country, owned by Germany's HeidelbergCement, and the Fillea-Cgil, Filca-Cisl and Feneal-Uil trade unions improves work-life balance, sharpens the focus on environmental issues and bolsters social relations at both group and plant level. Valid until the end of 2025, it covers employees at the group's 14 industrial sites across Italy.
The agreement includes a number of new benefits for parents: a day off is granted for each special occasion in the life of one’s children, such as the birthdays of minors, university graduation ceremonies (very significant events in Italy) and weddings; part-time working (six hours a day) can be requested when the children are under two years old; an additional day of paternity leave is granted over and above the 10 provided for by law; and finally a global package of 12 hours of paid leave...
