Italy: opening the roman transportation network to competition would have led to a worsening of working conditions and a decrease in services’ quality

Tevere Tpl's employees announced a new 24-hour strike on Monday June 11, to ask for better working conditions. The topics of security, payment, and worsened working conditions are fueling a union conflict in a private urban transportation company connecting the fringe to the center of Rome. However, the social climate is also tense on the lines still managed by public companies in which employees denounce the policy of costs reduction since the opening to private providers in 2000.
