The 2026 Italian Finance Act has extended optional parental leave, which can now be taken until the child is 14 years old, up from 12 previously. This leave has a maximum duration of 10 or 11 months to be shared between both parents. Each parent can take a maximum of six months (seven months for the father if he takes at least three months’ leave). Furthermore, employees can split this leave into days or even hours, as provided for in certain industry-wide collective agreements. After the child
