Italy: Parliament permanently approves “anticrisis” act

Social dampers. The usual unemployment benefits for workers dismissed because of a crisis (or another element separate from the employer’s will) were brought from 65 up to 90 days, but depend on the intervention of equal organizations – at least up to 20%. Apprentices can also receive these benefits. Besides, unemployment benefits with “reduced criteria” are extended to employees in the craft industry and from temp agencies, but are still subject to the intervention of equal organizations. The CGIL criticizes this requirement, pointing out that all employees aren’t covered by an equal organization (since not all businesses join equal organizations and some sectors are still devoid of them) and, besides, the law doesn’t give a solution if the organizations’ funds run out. In addition, whatever the type of benefit received, the beneficiary looses them if he refuses a job offer or a professional reclassification course offered by the public employment service. As for the coordinated and uninterrupted collaborators (co.co.co), they will not receive social dampers strictly speaking but the State will give them a 10% bonus (instead of the 5% provided for in the initial decree) of the income received the year before, depending on some criteria, such as an annual income over €5.000.
