Adopted in extremis on 29 December, the first budget law put forward by Giorgia Meloni's government focuses the bulk of resources on measures to help businesses and families cope with high energy prices. The government led by the far-right Fratelli d'Italia party has clearly chosen to favour self-employed workers and small businesses, through a very advantageous tax system. Employees, on the other hand, have to make do with minor improvements. Here are the main measures that could have an impact on employers.
One month of parental leave with 80% pay
Parents of children under the age of 6 will be able to take one month of parental leave at 80% of their salary (instead of the usual 30%). In the first version of the budget, this measure was only applicable to women, but it was ultimately extended to fathers.
