On 24 November, both the unions (Feneal-Uil, Filca-Cisl, Fillea-CGIL) and employers (Federmaco) concluded an agreement to renew the cement, lime, and plaster industry National Collective Agreement (NCA), affecting 10,000 workers. The agreement was concluded one month ahead of the scheduled deadline of 31 December 2015 and runs from 01 January 2016 -31 December 2018. The new NCA reinforces the system of collective bargaining that includes both national and company level negotiation. It also includes wage rises for employees in the sector and introduces new elements of social protection such as unpaid leave for illnesses and disorders linked to alcohol, gambling and eating and it also includes a new code of conduct for managing moral and sexual harassment.
The cement, lime, and plaster industry is the first of the construction industry NCAs to be renewed. Unions indicated their satisfaction at having “attained their primary objectives, and notably the confirmation negotiations at both company and national level,” as underlined by Marinella Meschieri Head of the sector and national secretary for Fillea.
